The broad field of education and training is based on a number of widely accepted theories and involves the use of multiple teaching methodologies. This course will provide insight into a number of teaching and learning theories as they relate to healthcare simulation, with a focus on adult learning theory.
To start we will work through adult learning concepts and then explore simulation methodology and some related learning theories so that you can see how simulation fits into adult learning. The course will continue with instructional design models and some methods for applying adult learning concepts to your work in a simulation program. This will help you to teach others how to use simulation equipment and will help you to provide feedback to learners.
We will conclude the course with a module on education regulations and standards.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss adult education principles, methodologies, regulations, and standards as they apply to healthcare simulation.
Support all aspects of the learning environment.
Support the learning experience of all simulation center users.
